Whether you enjoy bushwalking or simply enjoy going on nature trips, you will be happy to know that there might be some parts here in Mt Coot-tha and nearby suburbs with secret bush spots that you haven’t discovered yet. These spots are spots that you have probably passed by several times but never realised were there.

The Bush Chapel

Located in Mt Coot-tha, this is an outdoor chapel that was maintained by US servicemen stationed in the area during WWII. Just along a little bitumen path from JC Slaughter Falls picnic area, the spot usually goes unnoticed by passersby.

If you take the time to discover this hidden gem, you’ll find yourself in a serene spot, perfect after a relaxing walk. The chapel is adorned with logs for pews and a stone pulpit. There have been several small weddings here as well.

Brisbane Botanic Gardens

Of course, this isn’t a secret but most people come here to simply visit the gardens at the front. Go a little further and walk over the hill to the back area of the gardens and you will find a variety of Australian native plants.

You can also check out the National Freedom Wall to commemorate the end of the war in the Pacific. There is also a lake beyond the hill. Beside the lake, you will find the Meleleuca Wetlands, a beautiful pathway that will really make you feel like you’re one with nature.

Go the extra mile and immerse yourself in nature. You will thank yourself later for it.
